Dress Like You Mean Business

What you wear to a job interview — whether in person or on the phone — tells the interviewer everything before you say a word. Here are the wardrobe staples that will get you the job.

If you only knew how easy it was to stand out in a crowd and get that job — that thing you're going after. You need a couple of staples in your closet that are going to help you land it.

One of the things you must have is a blazer. This is how I dress to work from home. From home. Why? Because I know what I wear impacts my money, my mood, my mojo. Everything.

What you wear sends a message to yourself, the woman in the mirror, and to everybody else. So you have to stop and sharpen your axe when it comes to your closet.

For a job interview — whether telephonic or in person — dress the same way. Why would you be in your yoga pants on a phone interview? You want authentic, don't you? The same you shows up either way.

A blazer. A white tee. A well-fitting pair of trousers or jeans. Shoes that say 'I pay attention.' That's it. That's your job-winning outfit. The rest is your energy. And your energy changes when you dress right.

Stop opening your closet and saying you have nothing to wear. You do. Style is just a skill, and I'm going to show you how to use what you already have. For the deeper framework — exactly how a professional woman's wardrobe builds authority before she speaks — read Executive Presence for Women Over 45. If your wardrobe has been stuck in a decade you've already left, Current vs Trendy is the distinction that changes everything. And once you know what to keep, building a 30-piece capsule wardrobe gives you the system that runs itself.

Why would you dress differently for a phone interview than an in-person one? Because you want to be authentic, don't you? The same you shows up either way. Dress for that woman.
